Splendor
has been making molds and parts for the RV and Marine Industry since 1972. The
company's founder,
Doyle Heckaman is a master pattern maker, who has made just about everything possible
out of fiberglass like steeples, fan housings, running boards, van tops, and of course, boats.
He use to tool boat hulls for other major boat builders, but when he developed a new hull idea in 1989,
a new page in history was written. He came up with a revolutionary, catamaran
design. Along with his engineering team, the hull was perfected to a level in which
it would NOT
require two engines to perform exceptionally well. This design significantly
lowered the cost associated with owning a luxury boat of this class. The boat ran so well
that he decided to not sell the mold, and he marketed it himself.
Thus, Splendor Boats
was officially born.
Since that time, Splendor Boats has experienced steady improvement in all aspects of the business. Innovation and quality improvements have been experienced in the shop, while sales and name recognition are simultaneously and continuously growing alongside. The products are achieving high marks on industry tests, receiving rave reviews from the experts, and enjoying exceptional customer satisfaction.
The company is now in the hands of its 3rd generation of Heckamans.
Doyle's three grandchildren, Adam Heckaman, Andrew Heckaman, and Amy
Heckaman-Parker, have officially taken control of the operation.
As for Doyle, don't expect his "retirement" plans to include
sitting around poolside or enjoying a quick round of golf. He
still comes in daily, offering whatever advice he can and sharing all of
his vast knowledge. Without all of the silly time restraints that
typically hold back a company owner from getting things accomplished,
Doyle has even gotten back into one of his biggest loves, tooling and
mold-making. Look for him to start popping out new models and
designs to further increase the legacy of Splendor Boats.
