Why Our Boats are Better

Water Skier with CuddyIn 1972, Doyle Heckaman, who has been involved in the boating industry since the 1950s, founded the company that has evolved into Splendor Boats. Doyle’s career began at North American Marine building wooden boats.  As the boating industry shifted to building fiberglass boats in the 1960s and `70s, Doyle’s experiences progressed and provided him with the knowledge he needed to become a master pattern maker. Throughout the next 35 years, he designed and tooled boats for several major boat builders, including the models that lead to the formation of Splendor Boats.

In the late `80s, Doyle developed the hull design that we now know as the Splendor catamaran, ultimately revolutionizing the marine industry. Doyle, along with his engineering team, perfected the full-planning catamaran hull to work with a single motor instead of two, effectively lowering the cost of performance for you. The hull, with a 12” hull draft, was designed to compact air in the tunnel, which eliminates the pounding associated with convention hulls. This design makes the boat stable, speedy, and very safe. The catamaran hull is designed to run in shallow water, glide across choppy waters, and supply plenty of power for pulling skiers. If you are looking for boat that fulfills all of your family’s on – water needs, this is it. Splendor’s are great for fishing, skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, entertaining and simply relaxing on the water and more.
